SEAL BOWL BY TOM WHONNOCK This bowl, by Tom Whonnock , is carved from beautiful yellow cedar and features extremely deep and precise cuts. The piece, which has been completely hollowed, has been signed by the artist. Harbour Seals are a common sight along the Northwest Coast and they were an important source of meat, blubber and oil to the peoples. The Seals elongated form lends itself well to feasting dishes. Since the flippers are not used for swimming, they are tucked to the side and only moderately defined in the design. The seal is easily distinguished from the seal lion due to its rounded snout and smaller flippers. Price: $650.00 |
