YAGIS RATTLE BY TIM ALFRED

This rattle, by Tim Alfred, is carved from yellow cedar. The piece is fully functional and makes a wonderful "whooshing" noise when shaken.

Yagis is one of many Kwakwaka'wakw sea monsters capable of causing storms, waves and dangerous whirlpools. He is a servant of Komokwa (Chief of the Undersea World) and is commonly portrayed with a sea urchin attached to his forehead.
